2021 Halliday Wine Companion Announcement

Barwon Ridge is now a Halliday 5 Star and a top 10 Dark Horse Winery.

The 2021 Halliday Wine Companion is out this week and we have had some exciting news  for Barwon Ridge. 

We are rated a 5 Star Winery in Wine Companion for the first time, and also:

we were chosen in the top 10 Dark Horse wineries across Australia. (These are the best of the newest 5 star wineries.)


Small Business Awards.

Barwon Ridge was nominated for the Geelong Business Excellence Awards. It has been a great opportunity to review what we have achieved, what we are doing well and where we need to focus over the coming years.

We have made it through the first round and have been short listed for the awards. Next step is a site visit from the judges!



The Pinot family wine tasting – 2nd June 2018.

In anticipation of our Pinot Meunier planting later this year we have decided that for our next Barwon Ridge wine adventure we will explore the broad Pinot family.

Pinot is one of the most intriguing grapes as it can come in many guises and styles. Australia, Europe, New Zealand and USA are some of the places where the different flavours of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Meunier and other members of the family can be found.

We will look at how the Pinot family is handled in different parts of Australia and in different countries. Can you spot the Aussie vs OS Pinot Noir?, is there a “Geelong” flavour vs a “Mornington” flavour?, what is the difference between Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio?, do Australian and French Pinot Blanc taste the same?

Come along and have some fun, and together we hope to learn something new about this family.

Cabernet Sauvignon

The Cabernet Sauvignon is looking and tasting fantastic. We will give it a few more days ripening before a pick later this week. In the meantime our cellar door is open today and tomorrow for tastings and tasting plates.
