2015 Chardonnay
Huon Hooke – The Real Review
Reviewed 18/10/17
Light straw-yellow hue, with a creamy cashew nut and malt lees-influenced bouquet. The wine is crisp and lively, very dry and savoury through the palate, with a long, sustained finish – like a well-sustained guitar note at the end of the piece of music. Mouth-watering acidity. Sympathetic oak handling completes the picture.
Drink 2017 to 2025. (93)
Campbell Mattinson – Winefront

New winery on me. It’s from the Barrabool Hills in the Geelong region. I don’t know the vineyard specifically but that area has a fascinating topography. Always windy the times I’ve visited.
Not short on personality – or flavour. This brings the variety to the fore. It’s sunny with custard apple, peach and honeysuckle flavour though there’s a good clip of spicy/milky oak too. Unwinds nicely as it rests in the glass. Good wine, no doubt. (92)

2015 Pinot Noir
Campbell Mattinson – Winefront
Reviewed 24/10/17
It’s a tangy pinot noir but the mouthfeel is silken and the fruit – even with the low alcohol – is ripe and substantial-enough. Red cherry, cranberry, a touch of plum, a veneer of smoky/cedary oak. Spice notes are not in short supply. Stems splashed with pepper. It all works well. (92)

Medium-red colour with a tinge of purple and a meaty, ‘roasting pan’ bouquet with a background of cherry. Intense and firm in the mouth, with an emphatic but slightly tight finish which lingers well. Attractive fruit and subtle complexing factors. 5/11/2017

2015 Shiraz
Huon Hooke – The Real Review
Reviewed 24/3/17
Deep red colour with a good purple tint. The bouquet is meaty and very bunchy, dominated by vegetal and peppery aromas, as is the palate. It’s clearly cool-climate. The taste is also edgy and rather acidic, and doesn’t sit very happily on the tongue. Whole-bunch is overdone and the acidity is unbalanced. Perhaps it will benefit from cellaring? 24/3/2017

2015 Cab/Shiraz
Huon Hooke – The Real Review
Reviewed 1/4/17
Meaty, stalk whole-bunchy bouquet, with some humus nuances. The palate has some red fruit flavours among the vegetal, and all in all it’s a really interesting, unusual and compelling wine. The shiraz seems to drive the wine.
